Frustration ‘R’ Us

The checkout line at Baby’s ‘R’ Us is like a bad dream that you can’t wake up from. It doesn’t matter how carefully you scrutinize the lines, the one you pick will always be the wrong one.

Like today. The line to my left had a customer who was having problems with her payment method. I didn’t understand the details of it, but it had something to do with a $50 bill. In the line to my right, the next person in line had 50 gazillion items in her cart.

So I chose the middle line. And sure enough, when it got down to the person in front of me, the cashier’s scanner broke. So she had to hand. key. every. single. item.

After watching approximately 40 people file through the lines on either side of me, I switched lanes. And ended up right behind another person who was purchasing every item in the store.

Now, you might be tempted to think this was just bad luck, but no. It happens every. single. time.
