Peaceful

Can you hear that?  No?  Perfect.  It’s called silence.

I’m in my house and I’m the only one home.  I don’t think that’s happened since Button was born.  J took her to church while I stayed behind to catch up on some sleep.

I’m in my own home and I have no parenting responsibilities.  That never seems to be the case.  I just took a shower and there weren’t any little hands on the shower door, blocking my exit.  I didn’t even have to be on the lookout for little feet disappearing in a hobble-crawl around the corner.

The only times I escape from parenting are when I’m at work (not my definition of escape) or when my parents take her and J & I go out and about.

But this…this is quite a novelty.  Right now it’s just me and the (napping) pets and a very. quiet. house.

Ahh…

I like peaceful moment like that, too. But, why I keep thinking about my baby?

Oh, soooo cool! Good for you! Those moments are so far and few in between it almost drives you nutso just to go to the bathroom alone!!! My mother is coming for a visit this weekend so I’ll have plenty of time to run outta the house like a kid headed to Cancun on Spring Break!!

Hope you get to enjoy more times like those!

Silence is golden so the old saying goes. For a busy parent they are rare and to be cherished and savoured like a fine wine or decadent dessert! Some very infrequent …. and definitely needed.

Of course a parent misses their child when they are alone … but if they know they are safe and in good hands … then the parent should be free to enjoy the brief respite from parenting. To be alone to refresh their bodies and spirit! Baby will come home soon …. and then the joy of parenting can resume.
