Hrm. Maybe I could "accidentally" buy something ;-) Sounds like a good excuse to me!

Oh thank goodness my (your)neurosis is curable with medication!! *wink, wink* Besides, poor and fat...yeah, already there! I hate shopping at Amazon because of that 1-click thingy AND the fact that I 'lost' a $50 gift card there! Dunno what happened - I carefully selected, and reselected all my schtuff, entered my code, and BAM! All gone. No confirmation, no being able to retrace my steps, nada. That was over two years ago and I'm still bitter!

When the Amazon box arrives, can't you give it (unopened) to your husband so he can still give it to you?
I have done shopping like what you explained, at Target. I load up the cart with tons of stuff I want & then, I abandon it. It was Tarzan's idea & it does cure my shopping jones. Plus, it gives some bored kid there some work to do. (But I've only done it a few times)

If it happens again, click the 'edit order' button on the screen that comes up after you click the 1-click button. You have 30 minutes to cancel the order. You can also turn off one-click ordering altogether so there's no chance of getting stuck again.

What a drag, sorry it happened to you!
