Bad House of Representatives.  Bad Bad Bad.  Shame on you.  Taking away freedoms of the intenet user just because the big guys want to make extra bucks from blackmailing the companies that can afford it is just wrong.

Wrong, I tell you.

So Go Here and fill in the blanks to send a letter to your congresspeole and representatives.  It only takes a minute and you don’t even have to leave your computer to drop it in the mailbox.

So Anna Nicole is pregnant.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Ms. Smith’s mothering abilities are going to make Britney Spears look like Donna Reed?

Yikes.

America the Tyrannical

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

“This White House believes that the only way to solve the problem is to change the power structure in Iran, and that means war,” Hersh quotes an unidentified senior Pentagon adviser on the war on terror as saying.

This isn’t a political blog and I’m not going to go into a lot of detail on my opinion about this, because - frankly - this kind of thing just wears me out.

But I will say, basically, that in general I have a very lenient view of politicians because I believe that much of the political ado is based on conjecture and contrived villainization of people to further personal agendas.

I have tried very very hard to be as supportive of our current president and administration as I can, because I believe that Mr. Bush is really trying to do the best job he knows how. And I just can’t picture him as being the “bad guy” that people tend to make him out to be…I may not agree with all of his decisions, but just don’t think he has it in him to be “evil,” as he has been called.

That said, when I read the above article, I seriously consider throwing in the towel on my optimistic view of our administration’s decision making skills.

A forceful overthrowing of Iran’s government? A strategic nuclear attack on their nuclear sites? Are you kidding me? Can anyone think of a better way to start WWIII and make the US the world’s most prominent pariah?

I’m willing to imagine the possibility that perhaps the Bush Administration has enough “intelligence” to reasonably assert that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is another Hitler. But this isn’t Minority Report. We can’t just jump over there and squash him because we think he might try to take over the world and start another holocaust.

Look, I’m all for strong military and increasing our country’s security by beefing up our defenses. I have no problem with that. But it should be just that - defenses. Going out on the offensive to overthrow other countries’ regimes because we don’t like what they’re doing and want to keep them under our thumb is ludicrous, presumptuous, egotistical and tyrannical. I don’t want to live in a country with that reputation.

Ok, stepping off the soap box now.

Leggo my Ego

I thought about commenting on This Somewhat Laughable Political Controversy, but Chris has already said it better than I could.

Our government as a whole these days (both sides) really seems to be struggling to maintain a reputation that one can take seriously. Sigh.
