Easter Un-Dress

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

I’ve been browsing some friends’ blogs who show pictures of their cute children all dolled up in their Easter attire.

Button didn’t get an Easter dress this year. Because the store wanted FORTY DOLLARS for it. An important discovery was made that day: Contrary to popular belief, I DO have limits when it comes to clothing my daughter.

This came as a huge surprise to J, who is quite convinced that we could pay the mortgage off with the amount of clothes Button has in her closet right now.

Regardless, she got to wear an outfit for Easter that (gasp) she had already worn before, which was ok really because we didn’t go to church anyway.

But make no mistake, sometime in the near future, I will be venturing back to Dillard’s to pick up that dress once it goes on sale. Maybe I’ll buy it in next year’s size.

What, like you thought I’d made a total reform in my clothing addiction? Silly Wabbit.

Flavor of the Day

“So I found this new blog software that’s going to be really cool. I’ve been dissatisfied with my blog recently because-”

“Because that’s what you do.”

“Right. Wait…What?”

“You’re always dissatisfied with your blog for some reason.”

“Oh. Um. Well, this is going to help that.”

“For at least a day.”

“Yeah. Probably.”

If I suddenly stop posting, it’s because the bra I’m wearing cut off all blood circulation to my head.

My Sis in Law gave me this one because it was too small for her (which would generally mean that it was still too big for me) but the makers of this bra should be sued for false advertising. I’m sure you sell more bras by upping the size, but there is no way on God’s green earth that this is either a 34 nor a C.

I think my little finger just turned blue. Can’t … think … clearly … Head … pounding…

Enjoying: A Good Day!

J has a Job! It’s The Virtual One and I’m totally excited for him. All our previous anxieties about this whole unemployment situation have been aleviated and we don’t even have to miss a week with the Nanny. He starts Monday and they’re going to pay for our internet and buy him a computer and a dedicated phone line.

This has been a true blessing. I ventured over to Phantom Scribbler’s place for my typical Wednesday Whining appointment, but I couldn’t even think of anything to whine about for the occasion. If you’ve gotta have a problem…

To Eat or Not to Eat

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

Every couple of months, Button goes through a phase where she completely forgets how to eat.

This is one of those times.

She sucks on a bottle for all of ten seconds, then anything she managed to get out of it comes spewing out of her mouth and all over the bib/outfit she is wearing. She’ll take maybe half of her usual serving of formula and then she’s just DONE.

And heaven forbid the dog walk by or a noise happen in the kitchen during those ten seconds. Then there’s no chance. So every time she looks at us crosseyed for the next 2-4 hours, we’re wondering if she’s hungry again - should we heat up another bottle? If we don’t, we regret it because she’s hungry. If we do, it invariably goes uneaten.

Eating is a skill she mastered during her second day of life. I can never figure out what happens every few months to make her suddenly and totally stupid at it.

It’s like a bad rendition of “99 Bottles of Beer” as the 99 Half-eaten Bottles of Formula begin lining up on our counter.
