Priorities

Monday, March 31st, 2008

I am such a MOM.

It suddenly got really dark around here, the weather station is showing a huge storm of some sort coming directly toward us in the next half hour. It’s “red” which is apparently the most intense color on the radar. The sirens are going off over and over and over again all over the place.

AND I AM PISSED BECAUSE I’M AFRAID THEY’RE GOING TO WAKE BUTTON UP FROM HER NAP.

UPDATE: So… we never got that storm. While the weather channel was saying we were getting blasted by fierce rain and tornadoes… the sun was shining down on our house.  Figures.

Meh.

There is something inherently WRONG about starting a new project for work on a Friday afternoon.

But my choices right now are that, or putz around and not get paid for today because I have nothing constructive to do.

As you can see by the fact that I’m even blogging about this, I’m currently leaning toward the latter.

Tired

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

So today I woke up feeling fatigued and swollen. Even going up the stairs took entirely too much effort.

The common remedies for pregnancy-related fatigue and swelling are exercise (does anyone want to talk about the ridiculous irony of that statement?) and drinking more water - so I took Little Button on a stroller ride around the neighborhood this morning and have been trying to drink more water.

Which means that now I’m even more tired and have to pee all the time.

First Haircut

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Disclaimer: Ok, technically it’s not her first haircut… but it is the first one in about… 2 years? Give or take. I cut her hair a couple of times when she was a baby because it would grow in at all different lengths. But this is the first “big girl” haircut.

It’s probably not perfectly even, but the client isn’t complaining.  With all my pleading with her to SIT STILL while I was waiving a pair of scissors around, she’s probably just relieved that both her ears are still attached.

And so am I.

Sigh.

Dear Client,

Are you serious?  You’re really thinking about calling off the project now?  After all we’ve been through to get to this point?

The website is done.  It’s built.  Just the way you wanted it, which only took us a month to determine.

But you’re too busy to come up with the tiny bit of content I need from you, so you want to scrap the whole thing?  Somehow you can mange to set aside time for a corporate meeting to discuss the future of the project, but you couldn’t use that same hour of time to write a page of content and a 4-sentence bio?

I mean, look, you’re paying me for my time either way.  But seriously?  That just sucks.

Lovingly,
Amy
